Violinist Oliver Kipp was born in 1969 at Hildesheim, and received his first violin lessons at age 6. From 1984 to 1993 he was a student of Prof. Atila Aydintan, and since 1990 has been a student at Hannover’s School of Music and Theatre (Hochschule für Musik und Theater).

In 1993 he enrolled at the School of Arts (Hochschule der Künste), Berlin, in Prof. Thomas Brandis‘ class, where he received his diploma in 1996. He subsequently completed an advanced study course.

From 1987 to 1993 he was a member of the European Community Youth Orchestra.

In 1992 he was awarded a grant by the German People’s Studies Foundation (Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes).

In 1993 Oliver Kipp was a prizewinner at the 3rd Ibolyka-Gyarfas competition at Berlin‘s School of Arts.
In 1995 he came second at the Felix-Mendelssohn-Bartholdy competition, thereby winning a fellowship of the Foundation of Prussian Arts and Culture (Stiftung Preussischer Kulturbesitz).

Since 1998 he has been leader of the second violins at the NDR Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, Hannover.

As a member of the Hyperion Trio, Oliver Kipp is the first prizewinner of the 2001 International Johannes-Brahms competition at Pörtschach.

Performing both as chamber musician and soloist, Oliver Kipp has given concerts in Spain, Luxemburg, Norway, Japan, France, Austria, Hungary, the United Arab Emirates, and in Switzerland.
